All those nesting boxes, and the ladies lay in the weeds…

We put a pile of tall grasses into the yard for the chickens to peck around in. Little did we know they would choose that as their favorite spot to lay eggs! Just last night, after not finding any green eggs in the boxes, Sandi went to check other spots in case there was another “nesting” spot somewhere. Seeing one green egg on the ground, she went around the pile of grasses – and sure enough, there she spotted a couple more buried under the grass…turns out it was quite a hollowed out spot under there. Enough for 26 eggs that we didn’t know had been laid! Since we’ve only been laying for about a week, we figured the eggs would be just fine. Had our very first hard boiled eggs from our ladies last night. This morning at mastermind group they will also be treating everyone to breakfast!
