For “a pool company” we’ve had our share of fun and cool adventures. It’s time to take a look back in our digital scrapbook and pull some of them out and share the behind the scenes stories with you!

Whether it is attending a fun event, meeting cool people, or having new experiences and our mind blown by the talents of people and performances, our team has truly lived some Legendary Experiences!

We are delighted when we can recognize passion and someone living “Their Certain Way” in business and in life. Enjoy our trip down memory lane in this series of posts, and if a story catches your attention, be sure to mention it the next time you see us.

There’s always more to every story, so next time you see us, ask, as Paul Harvey would say “for the rest of the story.”

This is a fun group of stories! It starts something like this:

Once Upon a Time

We met a guy named Harry. Harry was pretty interesting, and had this sense of mystery around him, as well as these connections with pretty well known and interesting people. As we got to know Harry, he mentioned an event in LA – Richard Branson was going to be there – and it was a charity fundraising event. Intrigued, we took the invitation and flew to LA, knowing nothing except we should be red carpet ready.

We arrived the day of the event – prettied ourselves up – which is why we joke Al has two modes, his pool guy garb: usually a well-worn sweatshirt and pair of jeans – in a variety of conditions often containing mud, silicone, concrete, dirt and oh yeah, several unidentified, but we are sure crucial to the pool construction process, bits, pieces and parts, and his black tie tuxedo wearing look. There is no in-between.

Not knowing what to expect we did a lot of people watching, and oh, boy, that was interesting. As it turns out we were at a “star studded” event with television and movie celebrities, and other randomly unique people.

A couple of stories stand out from the event. Sandi has a Chicken Soup for the Soul story from childhood that was shared with Mark Victor Hansen, resulting in a few fun photos…

Sandi met Maria (Eva LaRue) from All My Children…she had watched in High School ;o)

We also met Richard Branson and his Mum.

It’s hard to capture Sandi meeting people without her mouth open – mid- sentence since she tends to talk to everyone she meets.

In this case, she did ask Richard Branson’s Mum if the story from his book was true. It was…as far as she can recall, and he did find his way home.

The event was eye opening, and what we’d call a success. Stan Lee was there, too bad Sandi had not yet tapped into her comic book nerd status, much to the dismay of her son Kyle. It’s where we heard OAR for the first time, and mixed and mingled with uniquely interesting people. Heading into the event it reminded Sandi of a scene with Hank and Dagny in Atlas Shrugged – where the enjoyment of simply being in this place, with these people, encompassed the moment as something simply Legendary.

Oh, and it was a charity auction. Stay tuned to find out what Sandi did or didn’t end up bidding on and {winning?} That’s a story for next time…
